I have no problem with Bora staying as I think he should. The reality of the situation however, is that if the JLP is not willing to come up with the government's part of the money because they do not agree in principle that government should be funding the salary of a coach, then the JFF would be short on funds to pay Bora. We have seen already where the T&T government did not uphold their part of a deal on Simoes' salary and Simoes was going for months without pay when he was coach in T&T. Simoes eventually packed up and left.

So yes OJ, the contract is between the JFF and Bora, but the government is involved because they are footing a part of the bill. You therefore cannot say the governmant does not have a say over what happens, unless the good captain can find some means of taking the governmant out of the picture.

Who knows what's in the contract, but a person can be terminated with just cause, such as poor performance. I doubt those smart people at the JFF would have anything in the contract based on performance.

I understand that. TT situation was different.. Jack was paying simoes not the TTF.. Bora contract is with the federation.

Not in coaching.. You still have to pay out the contract. If that was the case the contract would not be worth the paper its on. You can terminate it but you have to pay it out or buy it out. The buyout is usually significant unless and this is what usually happens in a coaching situation. A new job come up and the coach wishes to accect a lower buyout. You see that in the NBA all the time. A player says heh I am owed 26 million but I will take 50c on the dollar if you buy me out so I can go play with a championship team or more desired situation. But again the JFF cant afford paying two guys.. So I dont see it happening and dont think it is warranted.

Yes, you still cannot ignore the fact that government has a hand in the pie. Government does not have a contract with Bora, so they do not necessarily have to honor the agreement if the focus of government changes.

Talking about bakery..wonder if Bora will behave like some of our football delegates and accept payments in baked products....

OJ, do you remember when the good Captain Burrell fired Clovis de Olivera on the spot in Costa Rica in 2001? Did he have to buy out Clovis' contract then too? If I remember right, Clovis could not even ride back to Jamaica with the team, he had to find his own way home. But then, we never know what is included in these contracts. . .
