did a presentation today, at the United Soccer Coaches Convention, about leading the ReggaeGirlz to the World Cup.
A reporter briefly outlined some of what he said:
*Menzies said that the JFF did not budget for the team reaching the final qualifying round, and when the team went from Edinburg to Frisco, for the final round of qualifying, the temperature dropped by about 50 degrees.
*They had to use personal credit cards to order cold weather gear, from Under Armour, and purchase other supplies from COSTCO. Menzies also said that when the team went out to dinner, the restaurant was prepared to serve a special cuisine, thinking they were the Costa Rican team, because the Ticas had scouted the place & made preparations, if they advanced.
*When the team went to Scotland for a pre-World Cup training camp, some players had to fly commercial, through Morocco, so the JFF could save money. Menzies also said that when the team went to Lyon to train, a few days before World Cup, he & Lorne Donaldson paid for it.
