finally understanding the business of soccer: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019/...rg-4-5-million
***It's a pity FC Dallas wasn't smarter when they had Kellyn Acosta - was the best DM, in the U.S. '95/'96 age group & FC Dallas prize youth player. They turned down Euro & Liga MX offers, the last 2 were from Schalke & PSV Eindhoven, but they wanted in excess of $5M upfront. A month later he tore his ACL. FCD traded him, 18 months later to Colorado, where he's trying to regain his form.
***Sporting KC is another business-dunce club. Juventus had $1M offer for 17 year-old & $2M offer for 18 year-old Erik Palmer-Brown rejected. At 19 he went on loan to Porto & they offered $3M, which was rejected. A year later, Porto negotiated another loan deal & offered over $3M, which was also rejected. At the end of that MLS season (2017), he signed with Manchester City, for FREE.......I think that was a big mistake. City signed him so some teams couldn't get him, because he doesn't have the necessary international caps to play in the Premier League.
