  • Shelton tackles biggest challenge

One of Jamaica's most prolific goalscorers, Luton Shelton has been battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. At 32 years old, Shelton could still play football at the highest level, however, not much was seen of him since his return to his boyhood club Harbour View FC in the 2016-17 season of the Red Stripe Premier League.

    Sad,real sad.
THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

He was featured on Sportsmax Zone today with his wife Bobette; he could hardly speak and looked a shadow of the athlete that he was.

It seems that American Football players, and Football (soccer) players are statistically much higher affected by ALS than the general population. One has to wonder if heading a ball in football, and the head clashes (in spite of helmets) that AM. Footballers experience, don't contribute to the relatively high prevalence of the disease among them, compared to the population at large.

Babbsy (the JA govt.) is contributing $5M JA ($37K US) to his medical expenses. They also advertised (which I missed) an account # where they are accepting contributions to his medical expenses.

Unfortunately, there is no cure and it is degenerative.

For the believers, God be with him and family. For others (believers too) may the medical fraternity do everything to make his life as comfortable as possible.

His wife, BTW, looked like a rock! Good woman. May they be blessed!
