  • HL!!!.......Air Jordan moving into soccer

    now:

Still think Bolt made a big mistake not signing with them.......Air Jordan launched its T&F line after Bolt decided resign with Puma.

Air Jordan is its own billion $$ brand....independent of Its parent company Nike.

Does Bolt have Jordan style money?

Air Jordan/Jordan Brand is not independent of Nike. It is produced by Nike. Michael Jordan is the face & Creative Director of Air Jordan/Jordan Brand. For the past 4-5 years Jordan has earned over $100M/year as salary.

In 2010, Bolt's contract with Puma was expiring, and Nike wanted to sign him & give him his own line. Nike set up a meeting with Bolt & his management & LaBron James' management, as they saw similarities. They wanted James management to let them know how they leveraged James' brand globally into ownership & partnerships, not just endorsements.......If Bolt signed with Nike, they were planning to have him & his management meet with Jordan, to help them develop Bolt's line & mentor Bolt in managing & growing his line & brand.

The Jump Man logo does not carry the Nike swoosh. It is its own brand like the swoosh.

            I still stand corrected.

The bottom line is that this is an outstanding feat but Michael Jordan.

The Jumpman logo (which is a silhouette of Michael Jordan) is owned by Nike, and is used (since 1988) to identify their Air Jordan line.......What Nike has done is to expand & grow the Air Jordan line, after Michael Jordan retired, because they saw the global demand for Air Jordan shoes & attire, and have Michael manage the line & he's also the creative director.

With Nike behind him, and the way they help grow & expand their athletes' lines/brand, he would have a piece of the international T&F, cricket & soccer market - all sports that he has a passion for. Don't understand how his management didn't see and understand this.......Management - LaBron James is a minority owner of Liverpool FC, and he doesn't play soccer; Kobe Bryant made a $6M investment (10%), in a sports drink, and in 4 years, his investment is now worth $200M.

Michael Jordon retired from basketball (finally) in 2003 and is still earning more money than many current top athletes today. Bolt and his handlers need to do away with the sentimental BS and either cut loose of PUMA or stick them up for much more money. I would prefer if he leaves them because since Bejiing, they have done squat to increase HIS income. He's being loyal to them while they are looking at THEIR bottomline. Since Bejiing, PUMA made over US$300m directly related to Bolt. How much of that money has he seen. They don't even have a Bolt sneakers to rhatid.

Puma used Bolt to "get back in the game", and he has no real Bolt line, which Puma promised.......Bolt's visibility & stature as an ELITE athlete help to revive Puma, in the international sports arena. They are now back in basketball, and hired Jay Z as their Creative Director for Puma Basketball, and has signed at least 3 NBA 1st round draft picks.......I can't even remember seeing a NBA player in Puma (I think Vince Carter was signed in the '90s).......And Jay Z already has a Puma shoe: Jay Z Puma City Clyde, which is all over the internet.

The funny thing is that, in 2009, Bolt was at an autograph signing, in Manhattan, and after the signing (which had lines around the block, in the rain) Jay Z sent a limo for him and his management, to hang out with him & talk business. They declined, understandably, because Gatorade gave them a limo for the weekend & they had a prior engagement at Yankee Stadium, BUT no one in the group thought it was important to meet with Jay Z later, to see what he had to offer.

LaBron James didn't know about business when he became a pro, but the trusted people who he surrounded himself with (like Bolt did), made sure they educated themselves about the business, and when his brand was getting bigger & global, they knew it was best to hire a company to grow & manage his global brand (Fenway Sports Group), which was how he got a minority stake in Liverpool FC.......The people/management Bolt pays are obviously clueless & dropped the ball.
