  • Beasley suffers racist abuse in Serbia

Goal-hero Beasley stunned by racist abuse

Rangers goal hero DaMarcus Beasley has urged FIFA and UEFA to take action after he was subjected to racist taunts during the 1-0 victory over FK Zeta.

The home crowd targeted United States international Beasley and team-mate Jean-Claude Darcheville for abuse during the Champions League qualifier.

UEFA's delegate at the match included the incident in his report and Zeta could face heavy punishment.

"Donovan was excellent. We knew he was a good player, but he really didn't do anything wrong in the whole game and made it difficult for us."

Why bother?!? Can't anyone see that UEFA is not serious?

UEFA and the Jamaican police share the same definition for "zero-tolerance".

UEFA to launch probe into Zeta racism

UEFA have launched an investigation into the racist chants during Rangers' Champions League victory over FK Zeta in Montenegro.

Rangers winger DaMarcus Beasley and striker Jean-Claude Darcheville were subjected to taunts by the home fans during the second leg of the second qualifying round tie in Podgorica.

USA international Beasley scored the only goal of the game in the 81st minute to earn the Gers a 3-0 aggregate victory.

Disgraceful! Are football fans any different than the population at large? UEFA at least help out where football is concerned but here we go with another "investigation".

Don't hold your breath for anything other than a slap on the wrist.

Were the Chants Racist or Anti-USA

There is a lot of anti-USA sentiment around the globe right now. Plus don't forget, the USA bombed Serbia to smithereens during the Balkan Wars a few years ago. Memories are still fresh. I could well understand a few disaffected Serbian fans deciding to take it out on a USA footballer playing in Serbia, especially if you had family and friends killed by US warplanes and cruise missiles.

So that's why Rangers' French striker Jean-Claude Darcheville was getting the monkey chants, too, eh?

And I suppose that's why Serbian fans were giving the black England players the same treatment at the U-21 European Championships just two months ago.

It's race-based abuse from a country that is notorious for it. Nothing more. Quit trying to excuse it.
