In response to the plea of national coaches the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) secured funding under the FIFA Forward programme for the purchase of the equipment. Yesterday's delivery was the first of two shipments to enhance the quality of the infrastructure at the Centre of Excellence.
The JFF will also receive in December critical maintenance equipment, including turf rollers; tractors; ride on mower; water pump; weed cutter and an aerator.
The total value of these items will be US$115,000.
The ultimate goal is for the establishment of a first class centre which includes classrooms for training; an artificial turf; one grass field; a dormitory which will house 48 players and four staff. The dorm, which is constructed at a cost of approximately US$1.1m paid directly to contractors by FIFA, will house elite players, especially youth players overs extended periods.
