  • Mi secret Buss : JFF a feel di X

A key step has already been taken with the requirement that those who coach high-school and preparatory-school football must seek certification. Simply put, better-equipped coaches will produce better players. While it will take time for the influence of this requirement to take over, the long-term benefits are unquestionable.

          Coaches Must Get Licensed

          Published:Saturday | January 25, 2014 | 12:00 AM

Come September 1, local football coaches must get a licence to perform duties from the bench.

"It is very important as no sport can improve without significant knowledge base of the coaches," Captain Horace Burrell president of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) said at the Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB)/ JFF/University of Technology (UTech) coaches education programme graduation ceremony at the JFF offices in New Kingston on Thursday.

"We decided to attack the issue of getting coaches qualified so we partnered with UTech and JMMB and since 2008, some 600 coaches have been licenced," Burrell added.

Under the new rules, all preparatory and primary school, parish, inter-collegiate and women's league head coaches and assistants must possess a JFF Advanced Level One licence or its equivalent.

          Valid for two year.

Montesso laments limited growth in Jamaica's football

BY SEAN A WILLIAMS Assistant Sport Editor

          Monday, June 03, 2013

In comparison, Jamaica's young players are at a tremendous disadvantage as most of them begin their development in the high school system, which in Montesso's view, is not and will never be good enough.

"If you look at our youth players, Under-17, Under-20 and Under-15 which we will be starting on the national level, those players are attached to the school system. Don't get me wrong, I am not criticising the school system, but it's no good for them to play 12 games per season, to play three months of football is not good enough for them to develop, and that is not good for development in any other sport," the Brazilian told the Jamaica Observer in The Bahamas recently.

THE newly established JFF/UTech Coaching School is said to be playing a "significant" role in the development of Jamaica's football product.

JFF/UTech Coaching School a success story, says Dr Gyles
BY SEAN A WILLIAMS Assistant Sport Editor

            Wednesday, July 27, 2011

Dr Colin Gyles, one of the architects of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) initiative, said the future of the local game is being systematically preserved in the education of its coaches at all critical levels of the footballing landscape.

"The growth has been significant. I must say that most of the coaches who are presently operating, whether in the high school system or the clubs, passed through the coaching school," said Dr Gyles, who serves as chairman of the curriculum committee of the school.

            Building a successful football future
            (Part 1)

Courses at the Advanced Level One, Level Two, Level Three will be held on a continuous basis. Coaches from the recreational level to the national level will be required to attain certification through the school. Failure to receive this certification, or its approved equivalent, will prevent persons from coaching in any JFF approved competition. It is expected that this initiative will result in the application of internationally accepted coaching methods at all levels of Jamaican football. The template below outlines the expected certification levels to be reached over a five-year period with a targeted number of coaches to be affected being a minimum of 600.

According to his Wiki page (which could be very old) - "Downswell played for and attended St. Elizabeth Technical High School in Jamaica. He then completed his degree in Physical Education at G.C. Foster College in Spanish Town, Jamaica. He also pursuing a master's degree at the UWI, Mona."

Side note: The academic degree awarded to Wenger is ambiguous. Several publications, such as The Independent and The Economist have commented that he completed a master's degree (maîtrise) in economics (sciences économiques).[21][22] Others, such as French magazine FF Sport U imply that Wenger was awarded a Licence.[23] The Sunday Mirror state that he holds an additional degree in electrical engineering, but no such information is given on his Arsenal profile or shared in publicised interviews.[24] Wenger is also said to have spent a six-month placement at Stanford University, according to the Evening Standard, who interviewed his parents.[10]
