  • HL!!!…….The U.S. seems to be on the right

path with youth development (about time).......This is just the start, but we can see some benefits.
    Remember that –
*10 years ago we had only 6 pro academies
*We had no path to the pros (no MLS reserve teams) until 2013
*We had no stable 2nd tier until recently

Both U.S. Soccer & MLS hired qualified, knowledgeable, experienced & successful people to head their respective coach development programs, and we’re seeing it start to bear fruit…….Can’t forget to thank Claudio Reyna who started the ball rolling, back in 2010…….MLS needs to do a better job of signing the TOP youth prospects to stymie these free transfers to Europe: Manchester United, Liverpool, Villareal, Las Palmas, Schalke, Wolfsburg & Fiorentina have signed 9 youth players, within the last year, without having to pay anything. The next free transfer will be U17 forward Josh Sargent, who’s playing in the U20 WC & has 4 goals so far.

Fred Lipka (MLS Technical Director of Youth Player and Development):
"We cannot develop better kids, if we don't have better teachers"

Word to the wise; let the tourney run some more before you bring out the champagne. Don't want to see you doing a DT and Troopz on here.

Some info for you Jawge - The post has NOTHING to do with the U.S. performance in the U20 WC tournament (only 1 of those 9 players that transferred to Europe is on the U.S. squad). I'm talking about the things that US Soccer & MLS are doing to improve youth development & teams in Europe are starting to take notice.
