If any MLS team, in 2017, is STUPID enough to pay Chelsea FC €90 million ($99 million) for Diego Costa & then pay him €30 million ($33 million) per year, I would encourage & support their supporters to burn their @ss to the ground & run them out of town. Hell!!! I'd supply the gasoline & torch…….Zlatan Ibrahimović is a BIGGER ROI for any MLS team than Costa, because he has BIGGER star power & name recognition (selling more tickets & jerseys and attracting more lucrative league sponsorship), and yet MLS teams backed away last year when they saw how much Manchester United was offering, which is less than a half of what Costa is now being offered…….The highest paid player in ’17 MLS gets $7.2 million…….Bastian Schweinsteiger was to get $12.9 million for this season, from Manchester United (that would have made him the 18th highest paid player, in the world, for the 2016-17 season). He went to Chicago Fire on a free transfer, and is being paid $5.4 million, for this season.
What MLS & MLS teams have been increasingly focused on is increasing their investment in YOUTH COACH & PLAYER development, and focusing more on scouting & signing young players from South America.Comment
