  • Who should get the Credit for this U 20 team?

Was this the team that was well prepared for the under 20 World Cup?

Was this the same team that the coach (Hunt) would not listen to Bora?

Did Downwell listen to Bora while Hunt did not?

    Who takes the credit?
The same type of thinking that created a problem cannot be used to solve the problem.

Where is Bora in all this?

I know the question was asked below, but I thought a new thread was appropriate. Bear with me?

Tilla and I had a telephone conversation yesterday and the above question came up. My take is...and, I think Tilla agreed?...Bora should not be given much praise. I reluctantly suggested that, as we all learn each and everyday from our experiences, Wendell may have picked up a wee thing from Bora.

...but, Wendell has had inexcess of 20 years coaching plus learning his craft in formal settings at numerous seminars and courses. If we give his experiences as gained in either being head coach or an assistant coach in the international arena i would say, he is his own man. Has his own approach to managing teams.

...besides, he had a hand in selection of his squad and is left to his own devises on managing the squad in this competition. He makes final decisions of starters and the position in which the starters play. He formulates strategy. He pulls the string from the sidelines in the matches. It is his working at making TEAM in the limited time at his disposal.

Wendell's work as coach/manager of TEAM on display?
    A resounding, YES!!!

NB: Yes, Boxhill's JFF gets marks for entering the competition, giving the go-ahead to squad, supporting with the wherewithal to make the trip.

...but, is that all we must come to expect from our JFF? I say, no. Our JFF has a duty to give all our national teams the very best of preparation such that a march to the TOP OF THE WORLD is not merely a pipe dream.

    ...and, what of the players?

Considering the circumstances of their preparation - I can think of one word - MAGNIFICENT!

May these young men continue to move from strength to strength not only in this competition but FORWARDs!

    FORWARD!

    History makers!
