PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) - Jamaica's Reggae Boyz plunged a whopping 25 places down FIFA's list after a wretched tour of Asia in recent weeks, according to the official rankings released yesterday.
The Jamaicans slid from No 68 in June to 93rd this month as a result of stinging losses to Iran (1-8), Vietnam (0-3) and Indonesia (1-2) during the tour, in which they scored a 2-0 win over Malaysia.
The drop now places the Jamaicans fourth in the CFU, behind T&T, Cuba (90th in the world) and Haiti (92nd).
For the Jamaicans, who surged to an all-time best 27th in the world in 1998 when they qualified for the FIFA World Cup Finals, this is one of the lowest positions they have held on FIFA's list in many years.
Trinidad & Tobago's Soca Warriors reclaimed the No 1 ranking in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) when they attained a 65th rating.
After spending just one month at No 1, T&T were unseated as the top Caribbean in the June ratings by Jamaica. They jumped eight spots this month to retake the top CFU spot from.
T&T had moved to No 1 in May for the first time in eight months but relinquished the top spot a month later to Jamaica.
Meanwhile, Brazil returned to the throne as the world's top team after thrashing Argentina 3-0 in the Copa America final last weekend.
Argentina are now ranked second, followed by Italy, France, Germany, and the Netherlands, with Croatia seventh and Portugal eighth.

Why were we not playing Gold Cup matches instead of having to head off to Asia ?
