  • Reggae Boyz set to rize in FIFA rankings

We are so low that there is one one direction to go and that is up

Reggae Boyz plunge to 93rd in FIFA rankings
    CMC
    Thursday, July 19, 2007

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) - Jamaica's Reggae Boyz plunged a whopping 25 places down FIFA's list after a wretched tour of Asia in recent weeks, according to the official rankings released yesterday.
The Jamaicans slid from No 68 in June to 93rd this month as a result of stinging losses to Iran (1-8), Vietnam (0-3) and Indonesia (1-2) during the tour, in which they scored a 2-0 win over Malaysia.
The drop now places the Jamaicans fourth in the CFU, behind T&T, Cuba (90th in the world) and Haiti (92nd).
For the Jamaicans, who surged to an all-time best 27th in the world in 1998 when they qualified for the FIFA World Cup Finals, this is one of the lowest positions they have held on FIFA's list in many years.
Trinidad & Tobago's Soca Warriors reclaimed the No 1 ranking in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) when they attained a 65th rating.
After spending just one month at No 1, T&T were unseated as the top Caribbean in the June ratings by Jamaica. They jumped eight spots this month to retake the top CFU spot from.
T&T had moved to No 1 in May for the first time in eight months but relinquished the top spot a month later to Jamaica.
Meanwhile, Brazil returned to the throne as the world's top team after thrashing Argentina 3-0 in the Copa America final last weekend.
Argentina are now ranked second, followed by Italy, France, Germany, and the Netherlands, with Croatia seventh and Portugal eighth.

Top 10 CFU Rankings (world ranking in brackets)
    1 Trinidad & Tobago (65)
    2 Cuba (90)
    3 Haiti (92)
    4 Jamaica (93)
    5 Guyana (100)
    6 St Vincent & the Grenadines (103)
    7 Barbados (118)
    8 Suriname (125)
    9 Bermuda (130)
    10 Antigua & Barbuda (131)

      Set to rise?

Even Boxhill cannot take us much further down in World Football...right?

Yet we will rise again. Not even Boxhil and Bora can sink us any further.

I wonder if we could have found some way to play those matches as invitational and Non FIFA matches so that they would not have lowered the score?

        JFF need a marketing director.

Why were we not playing Gold Cup matches instead of having to head off to Asia ?

I guess not making Gold Cup 2007 may haunt us well into the next decade.

              Who knows.

Some apparantly think its just a matter of missing a few games.

If some thought about it carefully they would understand just what opportunity was lost.
