Just a few years ago MLS offered the NASL a partnership and they wanted New York Cosmos to join MLS, as the second New York team. The NASL rejected the proposal, because they thought their business model was better & the Cosmos stated that they didn't need MLS. NASL even stated that they were going to qualify for & seek Div. 1 status (I think that was suppose to happen last year), and they would take over as the TOP soccer league, because MLS would fail - KARMA is a B!TCH
*See Atlanta United player shopping in South American, and they're in negotiations to get Sean Johnson from Chicago Fire.......There're about 4 other MLS teams that are scouting in South America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia & Paraguay).
*The U.S. U17 won the Nike International Friendlies tournament - defeated Portugal 7-1, Turkey 5-1 and Brazil 3-0.......Friendlies are different than REAL competition, so we'll see what happens at the CONCACAF U17 Championship.
