NOTE: For about the last 2 year, they've been making changes to the U.S. youth development system - contracting Double PASS to audit the entire U.S. Soccer youth development system; hiring a new director of coaching education, Nico Romeijn; making changes to licensing courses; and MLS partnering with the French Football Federation, to get their youth coaches UEFA Pro License.......If see a new Curriculum I'll post it for you.

All this is good theory. Good guidance for system development

However in my experience wid U8 to U16 suburban yutes a HUGE problem is actually too much formal training....and too little playing the game for the fun of it. Most of the kids play ball ONLY in formal training or games. They virtually never just scrimmage among themselves in pickup games. They (to me) don't really have the game in their hearts

What this breeds is some technical ability and tactical awareness of effective team play. What it discourages is invention and creativity...the missing 10% piece that would give US football a real cutting edge.

Incidentally JA has the EXACT OPPOSITE problem.... too little formal training and too much scrimmaging = Half-Trained Seals full of invention but little knowledge of what to do on the field or how to play as a team
