What a concept!!! Using speed to create havoc in defense, so unique, so unusual!! Why didn't we think of it, some say speed is overrated, all other things being relatively equal!!!

Why you put "relatively"? is there a difference between "relatively equal" and just plain "equal"? but I'm glad you put that there, because pace combined with a whole lot of other skills (technical abilities if you you will) is certainly very desirable. I doubt very much Usain Bolt (in spite of what he would like to think) would be, much use as a striker in the EPL... but then again, who knows?

Well in reality things are relatively equal not just perfectly plain equal. So more speed with equal skill level, equal brain power, roughly equal everything else then speed is a super advantage.

This takes out the speed demon kick baller and the other crazy examples.

Not sure, Luton supposed to be much faster?! But Vardy probably faster with the ball, he can run and dribble at speed or run at speed and gauge strikes at full speed, that is a massive distinction. I am amazed at how he gets the long ball between defenders and outsprints them to ball, dribbles and scores. Amazing control and composure under pressure.

Physical speed is one thing but fast decision making is also a factor. He doesn't waste time and his decisions are usually good. Can't say I think the same of Shelton.

Excellent point, he does not dither around, action and thought seem simultaneous. That is measurable.

That is my point. Vardy makes excellent runs into open space. In most cases he is ruining into the box from an angle. In most case Shelton is running straight up field with the ball.
