Are the criteria stated anywhere? He's suggesting that being on the winning African Cup team should be the decider (or at least carry significant weight). Personally, I think the body of work of the player over the year should carry more weigh. That's my feeling.

Anyway, after winning it for four consecutive years, and being a finalist now, he sounds petty.
