  • Some Jamaicans upset that our next World Cup match

will be taking place on Friday, March 25, 2016. That's Good Friday, btw. The FIFA calendar was set 2 years ago and cannot be changed, apparently.

Some are saying Jamaica is a Christian country and traditionally we don't hold sporting events on that day. It's the day when Christ was crucified. Etc., etc.!

The Captain even apologised to the Christian community, saying it was never his wish to offend anyone. And, so as to appease them, he is seriously thinking of having a service at the stadium on that day.

One person, who said he had no problem with the game being played that day, summed it up best - "As yuh quint, di Good gone left di Friday same way."

    Especially if wi lose!

I can't see why they are upset. They don't go to the games or support the team. Jus something else to whine and cry about I guess.

Nor do they go to church or observe Good Friday in any respectable way. It's beach, dancehall and backroad same way!

Exactly! However, the usual hardcore fans will show up for the game and hopefully they won't leave disappointed.

"Some are saying Jamaica is a Christian country"

            ...really?

Some would argue that violence goes hand in hand with religion.

I wouldn't. Just depends on the people practicing the religion at the time.

Maybe no weed will be smoked in the stadium on Good Friday except by Rastafarians.
