Who can talk after Chung-Fah. When th good Captain was interested in starting a serious campaign for the 1998 World Cup, he said it could not be done.
Anyway OJ, you have made some good points."Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance." ~ Kahlil Gibran

You know OJ, I was thinking today that Julian DeGuzman may not have been a player to make the Jamaican side back in the day. The thing is, his development has continued. Look at Kelly who is more or less lost from the game. It is a damn shame."Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance." ~ Kahlil Gibran

I think it's easy to feel that the local (Jamaican) football "gurus" messed up when they "ignore" people who have gone on to "great" things elsewhere. (Please excuse the Karlesque "quotations".) The list is long - De Guzman (perhaps), Cunningham, Wolde Harris (yes, he played for us a little bit), one or two who play for the USA now, and we could go on. But I think this happens all over the world and is not necessarily a reflection on the "guru" status of any official.
A lot of things are at play. Players can have really ordinary trials, no fault of their own, but perhaps how the trial was structured while they were there. An off first day can doom the rest of your trial by placing you with the scrubs when next you scrimmage. They coaches might not have been looking for that type of player right there and then.
I think it happens on both sides where the USA also turns away players who were actually good. Good to know that someone like Wolde is not bitter about his short association with the national program.
I think we need to give players more than one tryout but because we don't have a continuous program, we are usually rushing to look at the next player or just get a team together that we don't have time for second chances. Because certainly, I think there is/was good quality in Cunningham, Wolde, Nicholas Addlery and others who I can't remember right now.

You have made some good points and I agree. Still what have you to say on how we seem to have lost the talent of KK?"Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance." ~ Kahlil Gibran

This is the team we should be worried about, maybe you should be worried about them I would never get caught up in the hype remember we are in the USA & they can make some people believe what ever they want them to some people that is not all.
Like I said there are 3 1/2 places available when qualifiers come around. Like I said before if you hear some music over & over then you will begin to like it I find myself singing chicken noodle soup sometimes what silly song do you sing oh you are just hypnotized by the hype the is MLS & US Soccer.
This is not friendly games nor Concacaf qualifying or the Gold Cup these are real referees. This was one of the best ref's I have seen in a long time he was very fair.
The Korean's should have won by 4 clear goals they were that much better than the USA. Like I also said before no one is going to sit back & watch the USA get better they may have you think that if you have your eyes & ears closed.
Also these teams have it harder than the USA because they dont get breaks in thier qualifying & that is a big advantage.
Remember this also the Roman Army finally started to get defeated everywhere & were chased out all over the World when they started to hire mercenaries paid fighters this is another problem for the USA start to develop your own true talents 7 players on this team are none US they grew up in other countries & honed their skills thier & when they came to the USA they were in their own ethnic communities.
They will always lack the fight of these other countries that grew up in their own country & therefore have something that you can never buy.
If you ever get a chance to speak to Altidore you will hear he wishes he could have played for Haiti he hangs out with Wycleff allot & his heart is with Haiti. I must say also Fredy Adou should not be the Captain of this team this kid Bradley should be the Captain.Last edited by Redz; June 30, 2007, 09:47 PM.Racist Zeppo Said "Against Italy? Sure. But keep in mind that's the reigning World Champion and not some chump Caribbean team we're used to slapping around in CONCACAF" Zeppo

We knew he was a good player, but he really didn't do anything wrong in the whole game and made it difficult for us."

No proper teaching/coaching!
No continuation in continuous teaching/coaching system!
No NATIONAL TEAM PROGRAM - a 'stop-start-stop' type thing is NONSENSE!
Soooo our talent stagnate! ...or, die! ...perpetuating the 'one step forward-two steps backward' monotonous repetitive beat! Which gives FAILURE at and through the JFF and our football!"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
