Heard the name, don't know the player.

It was a McMaster who beat me to the line several years ago at Boys Champs for the Class 3 100m hurdles gold medal, Owen McMaster.

Can't challenge you nor anyone on anything I have no knowledge of.......I am not too familiar with the deals that "independent" youth clubs/academies sign. Most of the information I get is about MLS teams & their academies.

I don't hate college soccer. I just don't want any TOP/ELITE U.S. youth talent using that "system" as part of their development.......If a player is outside of that TOP/ELITE group, then go ahead & play college soccer.

Of course getting a scholarship for College gives the player a plan B, in fact his/her education should be Plan A... what you say? Do the clubs provide a Plan B for "TOP/ELITE" players?

The TOP/ELITE players, who MLS clubs sign to Homegrown Contracts, have the option to have college tuition be a part of their contract, and some, like Bradford Jamieson (LA Galaxy), are enrolled in college.......MLS has also partnered with Southern New Hampshire University to provide players with the opportunity to pursue their college education - http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2015/0...ire-university

The academies recently started doing this. They realize they were losing some kids they want to college. The home grown kids still go to college and then are drafted by the home team.

The Academy also know that out of ever 20 kids only 4 or about 8 have a pro career so they also have college partnership and college recruitment.
The fact is no matter how many good academies you have. You will have some good players who either don't develop early or is overlooked and college is vital for this kind of player.

Can't argue right now but nowhere did I say the very best players should go to college. It is an alternative and an opportunity for some players.
