Seattle Sounders FC is Major League Soccer’s most valuable team at $245 million, in 2015…….The average MLS team is now worth $157 million, up 52% from when we last looked at the league two years ago…….In those 2013 valuations, the average team was worth $103 million, nearly triple what the typical MLS team was worth five years previously.
Looking at the numbers, compared to Galatasaray S.K., which is listed as the 20th richest club in the world, for 2015:
Seattle Sounders FC – Value: $245M; Revenue: $50M; Operating Income: $10M
Galatasaray S.K. – Value: $294M; Revenue: $220M; Operating Income: - $37M
Pretty good, when you realize that the league is 20 years old, and the Seattle Sounders FC, established in 2007, started MLS play in 2009.
Want to see - 1. The MLS minimum salary increased to at least $120,000 (double what it is now), for the next CBA; 2. Some teams moved to major cities (like Revolution to Boston, Fire to Chicago, Rapids to Denver & FC Dallas to Dallas).
