Remind me please... is this about him saying he was "taking a break"? wouldn't the JFF have control over those funds? notwithstanding pre-tournament agreements made with the players.

Seems like they did not use the Million$$ purse as the primary motivational factor to win.
Talking strategy and pride in country is very good motivation.
But if you tell the starting 11 that they will get 40-50$$K each if they win, then they would run themselves into the ground trying......
