GEORGIA, USA — Giles Barnes continued his goalscoring heroics for Jamaica when he put the icing on the cake to boot the USA out of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. The Houston Dynamo man gave his Reggae Boyz a sumptuous 2-0 lead with a piece of art, curling a right-footed free kick from 20 yards past USA goalie Brad Guzan in the 36th minute.
But Barnes' effort followed another cheeky move from his teammate, Vancouver Whitecaps's Darren Mattocks, who gave the Jamaicans their goalscoring start in the 30th minute, heading the ball onto the post and into the goal.
The win propelled the Boyz into history and into the final of the Gold Cup, where they will meet many-time champions Mexico at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Sunday.
