Terrible fouls on Thompson. The ref should have

stopped play and issued cautions to the 2 USA players.

Once Dempsey made his initial tackle. he should have stopped kicking as Thompson had the ball. The second USA player should not even have kicked.

Yes, that could have been bad, look what happened with Miller, refs not protecting the goalies
