AND if we want cech we must go out and get him. if wenger wins that battle, that would b a good first step.

mourinho's declaration is a bit of gamesmanship too. he is saying, "arsenal does not have that killer instinct" in the boardroom and it translates unto the pitch.

Arsenal won't sign Cech or any other goalkeeper

fair enough. but if we want him. we should pull out all the stops to get him. what positions do you think are likely to be addressed this off season. I see that abou diaby has been released, is that true?

Diaby was omitted from Arsenal's list of retained players to the FA.
He's going to be severely missed by Wilshere in the recovery room.

The flip! - Wenger has it over Mourinho

              [QUOTE=Gamma;523333]http://www.espnfc.com/story/2484814/...anctioned-jose

The flip could be Arsenal's relative financial model on stability when put against that of a Chelsea and ManCity.

Arsenal stands in a 'good place' going forward. Does Chelsea and ManCity?
              Not so sure!!!!

karl we could have sold them elsewhere and still been in good financial stead so its not really a flip.

we strengthened our competitors hand while weakening ours. I am

OK! ...on where we sell the players.
...but is that really what we are discussing? ...Mourinho's (...and Sir Alex before him) unwillingness to sell quality players unwanted by them to our GUNNERS and Wenger's willingness to treat his players well and make the deal irrespective of whether or not the buyer is top competitor?

btw - An aside: Is Wenger's supreme confidence in his ability to build TEAM equal to or better than his opponent regardless of the competitor's roster, misplaced?

Of interest to me is, his work on Sanchez. How long has Sanchez been sitting in Wenger's classes?

Walcott is another one that Wenger has not given up on...

Gamma do you seriously think if there were other buyers interested in those players at the asking price we would have sold them to our competitors? Seriously?

ok ... let me put it this way, if hazard said "I want to go to arsenal" and arsenal offered 70 million or more, would Chelsea sell him to us?

Gamma we can beat around the bush as much we want but the fact is Abromovich have unlimited funds so Chelsea can refuse to sell players if or when they like. Arsenal could not afford to do that at the time in question. Man City were paying stupid money for players so Arsenal took advantage of their stupidity. If Barcelona or Real Madrid wanted those players at the same price I am sure they would end up in Spain instead of our rivals. As for RVP , Juventus was the only other club interested in him but only wanted to pay 12 mil, he had less than a year left on his contract. It would have made no financial sense to sell him to Juventus for 12 when you could sell him to Man U for twice as much. Mata was sold to Man U by Chelsea so I guess they are not a rival, or are they?

I'm sure there is an explanation for everything dunny but the fact is that has been our history. sell our best player to our rivals and then they win the title.

stupid? I dunno, they got a title out of it, how stupid could that have been?

I'm not beating around the bush, I have made my point and I think we can agree to disagree on that issue.

It all came down to finance and economics my friend. Arsenal have many good players now, let see moving forward how many move to our rivals. I can almost guarantee that none will.
