The smoke has cleared from the six-team battle royal at the bottom of the Bundesliga table.

Hamburg finished 16th and will play the third-place team from Bundesliga 2,
currently Daniel Gordon and Karlsruhe, in a promotion playoff. Two other teams could finish third. The Bundesliga 2 finale is tomorrow.

Freiburg and Paderborn will be relegated. VFB Stuttgart, Hannover, and Hertha Berlin saved themselves from relegation.

Dortmund beat Borussia Monchengladbach 3-2 in Jurgen Klopp's final game in Dortmund. However, Dortmund could not steal sixth place and qualify for the Europa League. Dortmund must win the final of the German Cup to get into the Champions League.
