Highly doubt that is one of the reasons they don't sell out the stadium. Big enough population is close to that stadium.

They are the LOS ANGELES Galaxy, and they decided to put their stadium in the city of Carson (with a population of less than 100,000), instead of the city of LOS ANGELES (with a population of almost 4,000,000)......Soccer is pretty much a "foreign" sport in the US, so you put the team in the city with your name & you're affiliated with to garner as much support & following as you can, and the supporters can easily attend your games (private or public transportation).Comment

Yes the Los Angeles Galaxy in the County of Los Angeles and in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The City of Los Angeles extends further south than Carson.
And when the Galaxy built thei stadium way back in the early days, where in Los Angeles would you have them put the stadium?Comment

A decent place for many of the money people in LA (the westside is), for the money people in Orange County, for one of the traditional hotbeds in the USA (the Southbay) and the folks in parts of south la. Bad for people who live in Northern Los Angeles.
What would help, is if they, could rework their partnership with Cal State University Dominguez, which places a very low cap on the number of tickets the Galaxy is able to sell for mid-week games. Will the new team take some of their fans who live closer to the Coliseum? Probably.
