I have read & heard so many people echoing that sentiment & have to agree, especially with the team in LA. Hopefully these new MLS stadiums will be designed with expansion in mind & get rid of the d@mn artificial turf.
Finally the MLS seem to realize the importance of building their stadiums in the cities they represent.......What were they thinking with - FC Dallas in Frisco, LA Galaxy in Carson, Chicago Fire in Bridgeview & Philadelphia Union in Chester. They should also have NE Revolution to Boston & Colorado Rapids to Denver.
For start ups it maybe easier to share space and as you get the crowd you build. Atlanta is unique where the Falcon's owner is also the owner of the MLS team and a brand new stadium.

The only team, I listed, that shares "space" is NE Revolution, & that's because Kraft (who also owns the Patriots) was reluctant to spend money on the Revs until the last 1 - 2 years. For about the last year there have been rumors that he wants to move the Revs to Boston, so we'll see.
Don't see how Atlanta is unique, because Kraft owns Patriots & Revs, Allen owns Seahawks & Sounders, and YGL owns Yankees & NYCFC.
* Good looking stadium in Atlanta, although I don't see the need for a dome stadium there.........And will it be artificial turf???
The new stadium in ATL is currently designed and been build directly for both events. From the get go both teams have an input. That is what unique. Based on what I am hearing it will be grass but let us see.

I think it will be grass USAF.
The games that I have been at the GA Dome were all played on grass
Have not heard about the new stadium. I agree that it's small. Likely it is expandable.

The only time TRUTH will hurt you...is if you ignore it long enough
That's one of the reasons why they have difficulty selling out the stadium.....Wonder who thought it would be a good idea to build the stadium in Carson???
The U.S. teams that have their stadiums in the "major" cities (with the exception of NY Red Bulls) are the ones that are pushing the MLS average attendance.
Not sure about that as they were originally saying grass. I guess we will see.

"Unfortunately, the New Atlanta Stadium is also slated to have turf. That means any match played there will have to use temporary grass, unless it hosts the Gold Cup because CONCACAF doesn't require grass like U.S. Soccer does. Regardless, the field will be sub-par and, as long as Jurgen Klinsmann is manager, the number of matches it holds will probably be limited because he is especially particular about playing surfaces.
The stadium isn't supposed to open until 2017 so there is plenty of time before the New Atlanta Stadium becomes an option, but it will become an option one day, and almost certainly a U.S. Soccer host stadium. That means U.S. Soccer gets the good -- another site in the south, a major city, a brand new venue and a suitable sized field -- and the bad -- potentially the curtains and turf." http://www.starsandstripesfc.com/usm...derings-photos
Yeah I read where AJC confirmed it. It was discussion in the begining but I they have decided TURF.

There are markets that Garber wants for MLS & will allow the owners to do what they want. Sorry Blank didn't have any competition for the Atlanta franchise......Now he's pushing for a team in St. Louis & they are proposing that the team plays in the new NFL stadium they're about to build. At least he didn't give the Minnesota franchise to the Vikings group.....This is the same man who was pushing for soccer specific stadiums 3 years ago.
