TORONTO (AP) - Jamaican national team defender Tyrone Marshall was traded to Toronto FC on Wednesday, acquired from the Los Angeles Galaxy for forward Edson Buddle.
The 32-year-old Marshall, who has 59 caps for the Reggae Boyz and is a nine-year veteran of Major League Soccer with over 200 career games, joins a Toronto club that has allowed a league-high 18 goals in 10 games this season.
Conversely, Buddle goes to a Galaxy team, which while awaiting the arrival of midfielder David Beckham, has scored only eight goals in eight games, second fewest in MLS ahead of only Real Salt Lake.
Toronto will become Marshall's fourth MLS team since entering the league in 1998 out of Florida International University, and moves east after spending the past 5 1/2 seasons with the Galaxy.
The 26-year-old Buddle will join his fourth MLS team in less than three years. He began his career at the Columbus Crew in 2001 before being obtained by the New York Red Bulls before last season.
He was traded to Toronto following last season for midfielder Tim Regan. Buddle scored a career high 11 goals in 2004, one more than he had the previous season. He has scored 48 goals in six seasons, but none in 10 games this season with Toronto.
