Two more goals for Beasley
The United States clinched first place in Group B, pounding Central Americans El Salvador at Gillette Stadium in their final match of Gold Cup round robin play.
DaMarcus Beasley broke the scoreless tie in the 34th minute when he put a shot past El Salvador goalkeeper Miguel Montes. The shot was from just inside the 18-yard box after the ball fell to a lucky Beasley after a Landon Donovan corner kick.
Late in first-half injury time Donovan sent home a penalty shot after El Salvador's Alfredo Pacheco was judged to have handled the ball just inside the penalty area.
