    Technically poor?

    Yes!
How much blame should be given to Colour for that deficiency?

    I would say, none.
I would put that all on those who taught the kids through to when they were deemed our best and called to serve in this squad.

There were foreigners on the field? If so, they fitted in so well that they were as ''good" as our locals?

Karl. This is exactly the fundamental problem in yard ball, how do you end up picking players that need to be taught "getting the the ball first" the natural tendency of jamaican is "boxing shyte out of hog mout" picking these cool and non hungry players in trying to emulate Brazil and Spanish style is exactly the opposite of what we should be doing.

We are physical, fast, ballhawks, defense first attack on the counter!!!! You can't teach ball hawking you either have the brain or you don't have the brain

No boss need more than luck. Ja has to convert half chances at this level.

I'm going by what I saw in the highlights. Finishing has to improve cutting back the ball to get a clear shot on goal won't cut it at this level.

Didn't see the game just the above.

Oh first goal game from that cricket mentality = ballwatching.

Second goal failing to defend a basic cross. Is it that Honduras scouted Ja very thoroughly? wow.

                Not blaming Colour The Great

The boys are not prepared. Preparation starts from U-10 levels....so the lack of this is neither Colour's nor the boys' fault.

I didn't see adequate tactical sense. To me that is 95% about movement off the ball obviously since players mostly do not have the ball. The 5% is about optimal decision making with the ball.

I did not see good off the ball movement which created space for short forward passes via continuous triangulation. I did not see them show the ability to dictate the pace of the game nor an ability to change play to exploit Honduras' weaknesses in play or their defensive formation.

I did not see effective play down the flanks resulting in good switches to the middle and goal opportunities. Their solution to getting the ball around the Honduras goal area was generally long balls over the top or solo runs which generally were snuffed out. The coach claimed the #10 is our A player who would control our midfield and spearhead attacks... I did not see that assessment justified in the 2nd half

Consequently I cannot say I saw adequate tactical understanding and/or execution

On the positive tip what I saw in the 2nd half was lots of commitment, desire, reasonable fitness...and what Simoes called "personality".

That personality i.e. physical presence and aggressive attitude, was there in abundance. This partially compensated for our players' technical and tactical deficits and made the game somewhat competitive.

From what I've seen it's not too late for this group to be shaped into a competitive bunch if they're kept together and given more exposure.

I hope it's not too late for this tournament though

That US team played very well. Good movement and good ball movement going forward. Look much better than the U20 team.

The U20s qualified for the WC, so I hope the U17s can do the same.

u17 will if they play the way the played yesterday. They were spreading the field with passes and have a few players who can take on players. Looking much better than the U20.

Perhaps all our players do not understand that vital getting to the ball first = poor teaching...and what we are seeing is our best U-17 squad?
