Cooper injury casts cloud over win

On any other night after a 3-1 win, the FC Dallas locker room would be a happy place to be. But after FCD's win against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Saturday night at Pizza Hut Park, the Hoops weren't exactly ready to celebrate.

Instead, they were more concerned about leading scorer and forward Kenny Cooper, who was injured in the 89th minute after a hard tackle by L.A. defender Tyrone Marshall. An X-ray of Cooper's right leg after the game confirmed that the Dallas native has a broken right tibia. He is expected to miss between six and eight weeks because of the injury. Marshall was sent off by referee Jair Marrufo for the tackle.

"Donovan was excellent. We knew he was a good player, but he really didn't do anything wrong in the whole game and made it difficult for us."

    Marshall waits for final ruling

Galaxy central defender Tyrone Marshall phoned FC Dallas forward Kenny Cooper on Sunday to apologize for the tackle that will sideline Cooper for eight weeks with a broken tibia.

He's spent the days since crossing his fingers.

Marshall, who was red-carded for the 89th minute tackle in a 3-1 loss, is automatically suspended for Sunday's game with Real Salt Lake but he's fearing it could be for several more.

Jamaican defender traded by Galaxy and hit with MLS ban

Hours after being traded by the struggling Los Angeles Galaxy to Toronto FC, Jamaican defender Tyrone Marshall was suspended for three games by Major League Soccer for a leg-breaking tackle.

Marshall was fined 1,500 dollars in addition to his banishment for his serious foul on FC Dallas forward Kenny Cooper last Saturday while with the Galaxy, the team England star David Beckham of Real Madrid will join in July.
