start with paying certified coaches who should not and could not be also asked to teach geography so additional staff would be required.

what costs would you associate from going 3 months to 9 months as the case may me? it cannot be none. Who will be charged pay this additional cost? the ministry of education or jff? it has to be sustainable so the money has to be identified well in advance any way from 5-10 years otherwise we get a stop start kinda thing.

This is the utterance of someone who does not have a clue on professional norms or even the specific of behavior/conduct

you must be right on this point karl..you definitely have to be. and so this is where we should leave it. i have no clue so further discussion can be of no moment.

Michael career is marked by team hopping, and that is troubling consistency !
Unlike the keepers that I mentioned..

It could tantamounts to mere trials and in the end he is right back where he started, whilst Bibi was a keeper in Bolton's eyes.

Certainly as the kids require more specialist teaching! ...i.e. in/for the higher grades.

                      Agree FULL 100!

Must be the Ministry of Education's as it is schools!
Once the policy makers remove the blinkers and consider laying the foundation for a career as a medical doctor is on par with laying the foundation for a career as professional athlete - our specifics: footballer - the main mental obstacle vanishes.

Your questions above would now be the hypothetical and also real practical grapple with allocation of scares resources - human capital, physical plants and finances.

'The How' becomes paramount. One more area to improve on delivery of services. It is a task all the country, the Ministry of Education, individual school administrators, each teacher grapples with every day (...or should be grappling with everyday).

My experience - only 2 years as principal - suggests realignments to share costs across disciplines e.g. teacher of Geography also teaches Mathematics...and another - department heads 'knock heads' on approaches to curriculum development and METHODS - Approaches to how do you best 'teach' in this environment of limited financial & physical resources ...structure of syllabus, allocation of time spent on each subject/area/discipline/use of time/time management...

                      - E.g. What are the local resources - financial & physical?
Of those how do you best incorporate same in curriculum development, METHODS ='lesson plans' for best learning results? ...how does that impact a/each particular subject area's/discipline's time allotment... and on and on...

For the good teacher/the 'real' teacher'/the dedicated teacher it is the impossible 'every waking moment'/every experience both at school and away/every moment awake a part of the brain is constantly searching for 'better' managing of delivery of service/use of resources. The worse scenario is it becomes a strain. The best is, after a while it becomes an enjoyable serious game!!!! Leads to motivating each other and the pupils - If the kids consider what is being learnt an enjoyable game...then the subject becomes buttah! Matters not if it is a foreign language or math or science or... Hit sweet han dus dem kno hit with-hout consida-rin hit 'study'!!! ...or a grind!!! Hit sweet!!!

...but I digress! The truth is, failure to spend more - money and effort - on education - all areas - is not an option. It is the difference between our tiny country which has its tremendous pressures from population explosion and personal expectations not exploding or exploding. Any area or discipline whereon we do not maximize on that we have brings that 'bloodbath' nearer...on the other side, every life we save/make more productive keeps that 'bloodbath' further away!!!

You, sir Gamma, is bang on the money with those questions!!!
Please help to find the solutions? ...please forego, "it cannot be done" and take up the mantra, "it must be done".

btw - An Aside: That is the same path Don1 and Islandman has taken on introduction of Robotics in schools?

I wonder if there is any connection with Islandman's & Don1's efforts with my Mico making the request that this year's Annual Research Papers be on The Transforming Power of Mathematics for National Development?

                      Among the areas targeted -
...among its topics under: Mathematics for National Development - STEM, Sports...

                      ...and...

...among its topics under: Creatively Unlocking the Math Mind - Robotics?

Here is an open invitation to Islandman and Don1 to 'kick down the door' of our insular Alumni Associations and offer to make a presentation. The least I could do would be to introduce you both and ask for consideration of inclusion on the list of presenters.

Ministry of Education will never get the budget for that, not when basic school infrastructure is falling apart. Also, given how many medical professionals are needed and how many football professionals are needed it would not be a wise spend.

Has to be a public-private partnership if the programis going to be school-based. In fact that is effectively what the best funded school sports programs already have.

Karl do you realize many of the top Track Athletes now are coached by private track coach or team outside of school, additionally to their school?

                              Why is that?

Why would Mills or Franno have a school kid in their program since the school system is so good???

It would be a better sell to have 20 coaches provided by SDC, HEART, or working part time with the ministry travelling to different places with a curriculum teaching the basics and having coaches qualify at a basic level islandwide and try to strengthen the community structure by providing advice and assistance where necessary.
