Last weekend my sons were invited to a kid’s birthday party at an A League game. The Atlanta Silverbacks vs. Tampa Bay. I found it interesting how they cater for kid’s birthday. They allow parents to have tailgate outside the gate in the parking lot. The parking lot is astro turf. Afterwards the kids go inside and form a tunnel which all the players run through. They get to hi five the players. At halftime the kids are allowed to go on the field and play ball, After the game, the kids were allowed on the field with parents to get autographs from the players. I saw national goalie Ryan Thompson who didn’t play but on the bench for this game. We talked a little and he took a picture with the kids.
There were around 400 kids who were there for parties or a part of a team and this translated into parents and spending in their clubhouse. I think this good for community involvement in the teams and it is something that our NPL teams could do a better job of.
The standard of the game was not bad at all and I had a good evening. Pity there season is almost over or I would go to another game but there is always next season. HL mi know is in your backyard that.
