Brown looks for improved attitude in friendly

    Observer Reporter

National coach Carl Brown is calling for an improved attitude from the majority local-based squad heading into their September 4 friendly international against Canada in that country.

The veteran trainer said that although getting a favourable result would be pleasing, it was the attitude the players take into this match that he would be observing.

"Right now, the goal is to improve the attitude of the players. We have been working pretty well and I have enjoyed what they have given me in the last three sessions. I just hope we can take that into the game," Brown said.

"A good result could vary from person to person; sometimes the only thing some people think about is getting out there and beating Canada. But personally, I would love to see the attitude of the players change when they play at the national level as that has been the biggest factor that I've seen. The attitude needs to change, especially now that we have most of our players coming from our grassroots.

"I would just love to see them develop the right attitude that is needed at the international level," he added.

For the third day, 15 players turned up for the training session at Collie Smith Drive, which started over an hour late yesterday. Brown said he will look to most of those players that have been in training this week.

"What we have here is probably the starting 11. We have another two sessions and Jamal (Campbell-Ryce) is supposed to be coming in tonight (last night), which will afford us another opportunity to look at him.

Ricardo Fuller will definitely not make the trip though.

Brown says he knows very little about the Canadians, but he believes they will be as inexperienced a unit as the fledgling Reggae Boyz.

"We do not know a lot really, but I saw the Canadian team about five months ago in Florida. They had a camp there, but there was not a whole lot, I must say.

"We're trying to get some information as the Canadians are rebuilding too and from all indications they will not get most of their players playing in Europe either, so we expect to be using home-grown players as well," said the former national captain.

Brown said he intends to use the 4-4-2 formation. "But a lot will depend on Jamal, once he gets here... because he will probably be an influential factor in the formation we might use," he said.

The team has one more session today before leaving the island.

Meanwhile, Brown says he expect to have an assistant by Monday.

"We're hoping to get one soon; the JFF should have made an announcement, but he is presently overseas and we're hoping that he gets here by tomorrow. I can't say who it is; the JFF will make that announcement before the game on Monday," he said.

BROWN REFUSES TO CALL ONANDI LOWE

CAN ANY JOURNALIST ASK C.B WHY ONANDI LOWE CANNOT MAKE A DEPLETED SQUAD of 15 players?

If 3 get injured does he expect them to play injured?, I hope the media takes note of all the overseas players who refused to answer C.B call and those who did.
THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

No clue since this was not my story...
