The number of U.S. youth players at European clubs is growing & even more impressive is the clubs they are going to - Christian Pulisic (15) Borussia Dortmund; Joshua Perez, nephew of Hugo Perez, (16) Fiorentina; Ben Lederman (14) Barcelona; Joshua Pynadath (12) Real Madrid & Noah Leeds (14) Sevilla.
Will also be interesting to see which U18, U20 & U23 players will step up, in the next year, to secure a place on the senior team, since Klinsmann said he would be using mostly young/youth players within that time.......The Future Looks Good!!!

yeah, youths going to better clubs. The clubs are also paying more attention to the US grassroots academies and doing partnerships.

I'm happy for him but I think his handlers are forgetting he's only twelve years of age. Strengthening leg muscles? This kid should be enjoying himself developing technique with the ball (playing futsol). They already assign him to be a defender using his speed. Okay he knows how to use speed to beat defenders, is that enough? What happens when he gets past the age of 25? He will be just as Mike Owen and Rooney.

He will be fast down the flanks (between 18 &24) changing direction suddenly at times then giving that cross if allowed to. Is this how they devlop young players in the US? Wow!

That said I hope all the best for him. I just don't want to say ill of people striving for their dreams. Then again it's not ill but constuctive critique.

I'm not a coach, trainer nor have I studied the effects of strength training for young soccer players, so could you provide some valid info to show that this is wrong or not recommended......
How do you know that he's not "enjoying himself developing technique with the ball"???
So when players reach 25 they lose the ability to use speed to get by opposing players???.......Do you have any valid proof of this???...........You're a fan of Brazilian football, so how did Roberto Carlos, Marcelo, etc. accomplish this past 25???
Seems like the U.S. development system is doing a pretty good job, if ELITE clubs are signing players that are in/come through this system.

USAF, it is not a matter of "strength training for young soccer players", it is a matter of "strength training for YOUNG [people of any stripe]". In a nutshell, before puberty, boys don't have enough testosterone to build muscle the way that adults do, so strength training only puts pressure on joints and ligaments with little muscle building effect. Now, that doesn't mean that a young player can't do light weights to develop aerobically, but strength training is best after puberty when the individual has enough of the appropriate hormones to capitalize on weight training effort. I am no expert, but that's what I understand and to me, at young ages, the more important focus should be on building skillz...like mine

Father Paul, I hope you are not trying to hurt my friend's feelings. Forget those things for a moment and look at the fact that the kid is a star. I wish him well. He's already on his way playing for the US U14 and all.

Typical Jawge!!! Trying to use sarcasm to mask the FACT that you have no answers for the questions nor info to support your claims.
If you think this child is a star, then that's on you, now answer the questions & provide the info.

I understand what you're saying & Jawge will be happy for your response as he will think this saves him, but I'm still seeking some valid info/research to show that what was "shown in the video" is wrong, because I'm not an expert in the field either.

Stop hiding behind calling this child a star, because it's not working & Paul's response DID NOT save you.
