<P class=big>Juventus have withdrawn their appeal to the civil courts, much to the relief of Italian football chiefs
The Turin giants are set to start the new season in Serie B and with a 17-point deduction after being found guilty of match-fixing by a sporting tribunal earlier in the summer.
They lodged two unsuccessful appeals in an attempt to overturn their relegation, and were left to pursue their case through the civil courts.
As a result of their actions Fifa threatened to suspend all Italian clubs from international competitions, as well as the Italian national team, because their rules dictate that clubs must abide by the decisions of sporting bodies.
Juve have now given up on their appeal, claiming that they have received "signals of willingness" from sports officials to resolve the situation.
Club officials have held talks with leading sports officials and have said in a statement that they are now confident of being "treated significantly better."
The next step for Juventus is likely to be taking their appeal to arbitration before the Italian Olympic Committee, with the aim of having their point-penalty reduced.
