It's been something of an up-and-down season for the Vancouver Whitecaps' Darren Mattocks, but the Jamaican striker returned to the starting lineup on Wednesday evening, grabbing the go-ahead goal in the 1-1 draw with Toronto FC.
The strike was Mattocks' third of the season but his first goal in three months, as first a hamstring injury and then the form of fellow striker Erik Hurtado saw him reduced to a bench role.
In the past, this scenario would have perhaps frustrated the 23-year-old, but it is a new season and Mattocks has a new attitude after his now infamous interview on Jamaican television in the offseason where he spoke about the Whitecaps not fully utilizing his talents.
