Part 2
The Premier league Club Association was a good thing when itform but to me it seems like it is now the Old boys Association. Time for someof them to step aside as we need energetic young people.
This association should be forging relationship with otherleagues, regional and others to have players go on loans on a regular basis andgetting a few players in the NPL in a structured way. Many of these clubs willnot get the immediate transfer they want for their players but why not have astructured program where some of the best talent go to some Central Americanleague, Mexican division 2 league, Nordic leagues and others for short periodof tim? The players will still belong to them and they can actually get bettercompetition and a taste of pro leagues. It would also make sense to also get afew players to inject into NPL teams on loan.
The PLCA should be getting a small percent of transfer feesto administrate such a program. They should have a least one person dedicatedto this or hire someone to do this. Instead of seeing some of our national repsin the Bronx league, they could actually be doing more. I know HV tried to havesomething with the Red Bulls and the PLCA spoke about forging relationship withUS A league but we need more than this for National League players. Again theidea here is to provide more opportunities and better standard of play for theplayers, which will also put them in better shopping windows again.
I won’t even touch the marketing of their product here, wehave been there and it is so poor. Will touch on the development of the leagueitself later.
Part 3
Now there are more trained coaches in Jamaica more than everbefore, there should be a Coaches association and a small fee added at licenserenewal and a general coaching conference every year with an admission fee forall coaches and who have interest in coaching with guest speakers and professionalsto actually assist and address coaching problem in Jamaica. The JFF could alsocontribute and leave coaching to the coaches with a panel of coaches working oncommittees. It was refreshing to see the current Head coach calling all thenational coach to watch the game and go over stuff with him. The fact is ourtop coaches need to meet more in a more structural way. Identify problem, find solution, share knowledge and expertise, plus express ideas and other views even if notpopular. The panel of coaches must also have a role of identifying talent andbringing them to the fore. They could have regional groups or a straightnational panel. The idea is to get coaches working as a unit and upgradingtheir skills, sharing information, while creating a national standard andformat for coaching. Lennie Taylor madebasic coaching a part of Ministry of Education in St. Kitts when he was there,we could also give that to HEART, or SDC to actually conduct classes with a fewtrainers since they both have the outreach and infrastructure already.
