There goes two men who have to take the kids to sports, cut the lawn, and go to the park with the family. LOL. I feel your pain.

What about American caring more about MLS? ...the American soccer league league!!!!

Wonder how many in the British Isles watch EPL (a centuries old league) on each match day? ...and American the MLS on each match day?

Every Saturday morning, in spring or fall at least 90,000 kids and parents in Georgia out at the soccer field with their kids and I know many other states have similar and better numbers.

Passion comes in more than one way and World Cup put all of that together.

                  No!
Please post the sites from which you got those stats?
                  Thanks!

Now in each country, how many kids play the game at least once per week?

A lot of these kids only do the sport for recreation as you so rightly say. The majority if you ask me are kids who may not be able to cut it in the main sports in the US. As they get older and they may develop into better athletes, they usually leave for one of the main-stream American sport.

I have been there Sass and seen it with my own eyes, as at one point, I was involved in coaching at the youth level. Back in the late 90s, it was said that 17 million players were playing the game in the US at the youth level. I wonder how many transitioned to the professional levels following their early involvement?

Many are not going to but some will develop a love for the game. With a pro structure and Academy clubs now in place, they are in a better place than say 10 years ago.

The fact is love and acceptance for the game is growing. Look at Georgia now and you will find it is no longer mom and pop and community academies but these academies are been bought out by big outfits and are been twinned with pro clubs, and sponsors like Nike, EuroSports etc.

Heard the MLS Commish on ESPN saying they are moving towards clubs having their own academies. I also read in the WSJ that the high end guys (billionaires) in the US are buying up football/soccer clubs in Europe and have now set their sights on the US. It's coming
