  • Dunny & Co the difference between Jamaica and C.Rica

Isnt football fields, its their transfer system, they have no problems exporting them to leagues all over the world .They export them to Mex,USA and Europe and lets not fool ourselves about meeting FIFA ranking transfer guidelines, that only applies to (certain) countries in europe.

From what I hear transfering a player in Jamaica is like holding the player for a ransom and a bounty with these clubs.

C.Rica have more players exported abroad in concacaf than anyone else.Which as you guessed it goes back into a healthy league. Our hope is the US college circuit that give our players scholarships.

    Madness.

Burrell needs to call a conference of all major stakeholders, set a plan. Its simple we get the players out to build the brand and the transfer price will rise.So will the league.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

True. Had Bibi stayed in Jamaica 3 more years things would have turned out very different for him.

We need to ship them out early. Imagine if Onandi had landed in an organized program at age 18. He would probably have been playing in the Premiership within 3 years.

X, thank you. That is what I have been trying to tell anyone that are interested in listening. This ranking and work permit issue is more for the UK market who have the most stringent rules when it comes to non EU players. The problem is Costa Rica have the product that people want to buy and Jamaica doesn't, that is the bottom line. If we have good enough players people will want them. Every club in the world want the best players no matter where they are from. There are many other markets apart from the UK market. So please don't tell me that Jamaica is bursting with talent because we are not. There are some talented players but we are way behind countries like Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico and the USA. The other issue is the asking price for the few talented players we have in Jamaica, the clubs ask ridiculous
prices in transfer fees so until this is addressed and we start producing better players we will continue to have the UB40 debate and we will continue to struggle.

Right and wrong ,we call that a false positive ,Jamaica has a product we dont know how to sell it ,the question is where can we sell it for value.e.g one C.Rican player went to europe flopped came back home ,then bussed in Bolivia.

You hit the nail on the head with value for product, dont confuse it with not having talent, again most of our players get bussed in the US collegiate system, unknown to the JFF until they pass through that route, not even part of the youth set up.

We have talent our problem is value for the talent,we are holding them for ransoms and bounties.

I said it eons ago,Jamaica needs to copy the C. Rican model. We would get more out of it than C. Rica.

X, my argument is not that we have talent I am telling you it is not in abudance.
Sure there is talent, we as a people have the athleticism and skill but are we developing players? Do we as a country have enough youngsters playing the game? Do we have enough passion for the game? Does the parents push and support the youngsters to be the best they can be?

There is some thing in the professional world called "the right fit" because our players flop in Europe on a trial doesnt mean they wont be a success in another league ,thats where C.Rica has everyone in concacaf beat ,panama is taking that route. They flop in europe or anywhere they returm home and ship them to another destination, it could be Panama or Honduras,S . America etc.

Dem ave it lock, dem fix di right fit problem.

C.Rica has the same resource that we have in terms of talent which is their people ,the diffrence is organizational resource to export and develop,Panama is copying the C. Rican manifesto and trust me they are fast approaching to be a powerhouse in concacaf.

That talent with a system proved themselves recently in this WC as a success, to say that Jamaica cannot replicate it because of what you say, doesnt make any sense, especially when we havent tried their route. Why would we not succed are they more talented than us ?

Take away that transfer structure and they will be worse off than us , at least we have the UB40 contingent.

Did you ever answer the Omar Cumming/Marcus Ben question that I asked?

Also how many Jamaicans end up in the MLS via the college route vs directly being transferred from Jamaica?

Lowe did to to Mexico and left in quick time because he was homesick and was surrounded by persons speaking Spanish. Does anyone think that created a view of Jamaican players?

There are Jamaican players who have played in the Costa Rican leagues, not many I admit but funny enough these guys don't get call ups for the national team.

I think one challenge we may have with that though, is that our players will be less comfortable living and playing in places like Mexico, S. America, etc. than players from Costa Rica, Honduras, etc. More of a culture shock.

One of the the best things that can happen for players from the Caribbean in that regard is for the MLS and US soccer generally to continue to grow and expand.

Its a challenge for every professional footballer "the right fit" why do Jamaicans look at it as a challenge when most look at it as an oppourtunity and thats where clubs and the JFF come in they have to have systems in place to address the "right fit problem".

Lowe was an example, went to MEX and ran from it because of language and food.

We also experienced that in Vietnam.

A third issue is the Jamaican club wants a bag of money for "unproven" players. They look at it as a lotto .... Finally the clubs are too much up into the players business. They cannot sign an agent without the clubs say so etc...

I brought that point out gamma, I called it a ransom and a bounty...Thats why I am calling for the JFF to call a conference of all stake holders, set policy by finding common ground for the right fit.

X, how old was Joel Campbell when he got scouted by Arsenal? Which one of our
young players have been scouted and signed by a major European club? Also answer this question in terms of worldwide appeal and prestige which out of Jamaica, Costa Rica and Honduras which would you say have more appeal?
