  • Yup, I'm now officially

out of the prediction game (willi you can carry on

I knew it but I let my emotions get the better of me. Objective analysis shows that Brasil needs a second talent in attack. Guess what? Robinho is left out, Fred is just standing around, Oscar is back to his old self and the clock is ticking. This why many teams are in Brasil with a confidence because they know Brasil is weak compared to their usual standards.

If Brasil had their usual second talent Mexico would be unlocked either late in the first half or early in the second. See Neymar didn't have a good game and guess what? I'm about to quit watching the WC.

Bad game and forced 2 glorious saves from the keeper?

Ganso is missing. Robinho is a geriatric now...

What? Ganso played about twice for Brasil and that's it. Binho would have closed out Mexico easily with Neymar out there. Who on the field aside from Neymar is equal in attack to Binho? Well it's pointless arguing now. Brasil beat Brasil again.

BTW go check the Honduras and Chile friendlies on YouTube then my point will be clear.

Rio de Janeiro: Paulo Henrique Ganso expressed his disappointment at missing Brazil`s World Cup squad after scoring both goals in Sao Paulo`s 2-0 victory over Flamengo.

"We have been playing well for a while but people only see that against opponents like Corinthians and Flamengo," Xinhua quoted Ganso as saying after the match Sunday.

The 24-year-old netted either side of halftime at the Maracana stadium as Sao Paulo rose to seventh in Brazil`s Serie A standings.

"I feel like I could have been in the national team but I have to get over it in the same way that I`ve overcome other setbacks."

Ganso has not played for Brazil`s national team since the 2012 London Olympics.

The former Santos prodigy showed Sunday why he was once rated among Brazil`s most promising talents before being hit by injury.

Having started a probing run from his own half, Ganso needed just one touch before netting with a low finish following Oswaldo`s delicate through ball.

He then doubled the visitors` lead by tapping in from close range after his initial shot was blocked by goalkeeper Felipe.

"I was able to get into the area and score. We made some mistakes but managed to correct them during the match and get an important victory."

              Day 5 (continued)

What a time to be in Rio de Janeiro! With Brazil playing their worst World Cup football ever!

After a series of delays in Brasilia, then missing the flight because they did not post it on the board and I am Portuguese-challenged, seriously! Forget the likeness to Spanish, that zh-zh sound is getting on my last nerve! I had to be re-routed through Sao Paulo, which has got to be the biggest concrete jungle on the planet. What an urban sprawl! Not even Beijing seems as congested.

Then I connected to Rio de Janeiro, flying over the Maracana and seeing The Statue in the distance and of course Sugar Loaf Mountain. Tiny old airport, that Santos Dumont! Tinson Pen may be just a tad smaller!

I guess t his was what messed up my day: http://uk.reuters.com/article/2014/0...0ES1ZH20140617.

Thank goodness I did not have a match ticket. I would have been furious!

Anyway, back to the match a while ago. I watched the second half at the airport. The tension was heavy in the hall where a huge screen was set up. I could not believe my ears when a cheer went up after the final whistle! I thought there would be jeers and boos!

But let me say this - of the teams that won their first match, Brazil is the worst of them, easily! I can't believe what I am seeing - slow (over ground, of course!), slow with thought, no movement whatseover, bad passing, bad decision-making, and I could go on. Yes, the managed a few good shots on goal and if it were not for a fantastic day between the sticks, things could have been different, but I am not feeling this Brasil team at all. I need them to step it up while I am here!

Rio is okay so far. The first 3 women at the airport I saw were gorgeous! Even one of the baggage reps was distracted when his supervisor was asking him to look for my luggage. Some things never get old! But after that, the women started to average out. It's dark outside, get's that way early here, so tomorrow I will see what's out there on the beach!
