For me it is simple, YOU no longer have the EPL trophy!
Regarding Adu, we can't read too much into the fact he was invited...., he wasn't even on trial.
They can't eat their cake and have it too. The fact that he could not be signed doesn't necessarily mean he wasn't on trial.

So if FIFA does not allow players under 18 to sign contracts, how is it that he has a contract with MLS since he was 14?

Who said anything about not being able to sign a contract?

It's the transfering of U-18 players out of their country that FIFA prohibits.

So why the heck did he go on trial? Obviously it is to be assessed by ManU or other teams that may be watching, and for them to take it further if there was something special...but obviously they didn't see anything special, therefore the interests and curiousity died. If he plan to move to Europe anytime soon, he better have an oustanding U-20 World Cup because the radar is now on the Haitian Altidore.

Adu has a problem!
He has not yet even grasped that it is a TEAM game.

All Beckham has to do is consistently perform at a high level of play. The best player in the world cannot carry a TEAM if the collection of individuals around him do not play TEAMball.

One of the reasons Adu has not been able to make the step to the necessary higher level for him to attract the attention of big teams, is that lack of playing TEAM. Just go back and take a look at his game. He trys to 'hog' the ball and waaaaaay too often loses it.

His 'hogging' of the ball, that thinking of/by him which says to him that is football, works against his TEAM. He gives away the ball much too often to be considered a real asset to a senior...mature TEAM. At present he is a third tier player.

Even when he plays at the lower U-20 level he makes his TEAMates into retrievers of the ball. His teamates overtime to cover up his mistakes. Adu loses the ball they fight to regain position, then hand it to him once again. More often than not he somehow works at, and does contrive to lose it again. Usually he loses the ball by one of these three methods - bad pass, works himself into a 'dead-end' or has it taken away by running into opponents.

Bad pass = he loses the ball!

Works himself into a dead-end' = He loses the ball!

Contrives to have the ball taken away = he loses the ball!

...and, too often he also loses the ball by delaying his passes so as to have his passing lanes shut down = He contributes to/He loses the ball!

The guy needs his head examined! Football is a thinking man's game! Somehow this guy thinks 'brukin' everytime he is on the ball = playing good football!

Sure you can see he has 'the moves'...good technical skills. ...but, what is the point of having good technical skills if it is not being used in TEAM's interest? ...furthering aims of TEAM?

Beckham? He always attempts to put his skill to use of his TEAM! As long as the players around play TEAM...Beckham's Galaxy will be fine. He'll create so many scoring opportunities for TEAMates...it may be deemed boring after a while! Galaxy plays TEAM! - Gives the ball to Beckham just as 'good thinking, sensible thinking during games demand...Galaxy shall be fine!

Adu needs to think on what he is saying about Beckham carrying the TEAM on his back...and, see if it is that nonsense thought runs through his mind when he steps on the field with his TEAMates. Take a look at his performances...turn his mind away from the 'drop of the shoulder', 'dip of the hips', the multiple step-overs, etc...and concentrate on how he brings his TEAMates into the action...the support he gives the on the ball man...the effort he makes at making the TEAM, not self...better! Rate his play! He would be shocked! ...perhaps, shocked into using his talents for football!

I do not know what he can be...how far he can develop as a player? I do know if he continues with his 'brukie-boo' attitude he will not get far.

Just look at Landon Donavon far inferior to Adu as far as technical skills go...but, a one-thousand times the player Adu is! Donavon, at all times, uses his skills for TEAM!
