Bye! Bye! Spain! Never expected it this

    early.

    Outplayed in both games.
Just too slow to the ball.
    Bye!

    Contrary to my prediction...
Chile shall present great competition but should just fail to dent the chances of SPAIN and The Dutch advancing.
Chile did not only present great competition but she sent Spain packing!!!! ...and did so on merit!
    Congrats, Chile!!!!

Gotta say it again - Good showing, Australia.
Please give it equal effort in your last match.

      Well, Tilla?

Group A - Is set up 'nicely'!

        Brazil

        Croatia

        Mexico

        Cameroon

        -----

Brazil & Mexico has 4 points

        Croatia has I point

        Cameroon...zilch!

However, Cameroon has an excellent set of footballers...and I would wager a guess that its players are more than not faster and stronger than the Brazilians. They also have a point to prove. To prove that 'they belong'.

As was my fear - not enough TEAM played and not disciplined.
It is bye-bye Cameroon...but there is that match against Brazil to come.

Mexico has surprised me. The match against Croatia should be a 'doozy'! Croatia seems to have the edge. Stronger! The edge on discipline.

Funnily - Brazil on play so far, looked the poorest on TEAM-play!!!!

'Nice'...'set up'! Which 2 to go through?
Still have my money on Brazil and Croatia!

        - Cameroon's play in the final 3rd was just woeful on finishing. Eto'o's type finishing sadly missing...as the poor 'old man' cannot keep pace with the young'uns. Oooh if they were disciplined and had his finishing ability...they would be a sight to behold!!!! ~ sigh! ~ ~ sigh! ~

...truth is with only 10 men v Croatia, forget the 0 - 4 score-line, they were not 'half bad'!!!! Excellent strength! Wonderful pace across ground! Good decision making on passing and movement! Created umpteen great chances!!! Have to say it again...even though I was not surprised by it...The discipline ...and the finishing

Today Ivory Coast lost because they were slower on and to

the ball. The players' brains appeared to be on 'slow-motion' and therefore passing was delayed and often given to lesser of favorable placed TEAM-mates. The players were also slow to the ball=too often beaten to the ball.

The speed across ground of the Ivory Coast players could be summed up by thinking on Yaya Toure appearing swift across ground in the EPL...but exposed as ordinary within the group around him on his TEAM and certainly by the opponents. Hey...standards are highest at the World Cup.

Ivory Coast needed to keep the ball moving rapidly. ...they were also not helped by Gervinho's 'popping' display whereon he gave the opponents the ball much too often - ...directly, or 'popping' until outlet lanes were covered or space within which he operated was closed. He showed that he was/is correct in saying he learned nothing at my GUNNERS. He arrived a 'brukin fool' and he remains a 'brukin fool'. Yes, he scored a goal...but with less brukin...and with provision of greater assistance to his TEAM(-mates) he may have made 4 or 5 for his TEAM.

Amazing to see the England players unable to adjust

to the quickness of the opponents.

Easy balls to coral by 'meeting the ball', lost by failure so to do! Sturridge, Welbeck and Sterling are too often too slow to the ball.

The entire England TEAM is moving poorly. Not enough movement towards and into clear areas (alone with God only by the player's side) - to receive the ball. That makes for insufficient support to the man on the ball.

Suarez and his companion (more so upfront) certainly is showing the way on movement and passing/passing and movement.

Let's see what the 2nd half brings!

Well? - 52nd: Sturridge just set up Uruguay on goal. East outlet pass by Wellbeck to him as England breaks on a counter...and Sturridge remains anchored to 'his spot' and allows the opponent to run by him and collect. Easy, easy ball for Mr. Sturridge to 'step towards'/run to meet and kept the counter-attack going. ...for the give-away Uruguay was swiftly on goal. Caravani should have scored from his one-on-one with Joe Hart.

Bradley had a great game...until he lost his mind and

slipped to TEAM Portugal. Great pass to Portugal...two other passes GOAL Portugal! He has dumped USA from qualifying for the Round of 16 today! ...and put the USA in a position where it is now questionable if they shall make it.

                            Some Stats - USA 2 - 2 Portugal

Damn good game! - 1 in the 5th min (Geoff Cameron's mis-kick). + 2 in the 5th min. of added time (1st Bradley's give-away then 2nd Cameron's failure to attack the ball) glaring mistakes by the USA gifted Portugal 2 goals.

Damn good game! - Both TEAMs played very well!

                            Klinsmann vindicated?

Chile? Lots of ooohs and aaaahs on her play.

Exciting...but not convinced she has a chance at the trophy. There are warnings galore the manner of play. Shall have my reservations noted in prediction for likely outcome of Group of 16 matches.

Again I disagree. Goal of the tournament so far is RVP's header followed by Tim Cahill's volley.
