    Brazil v Uruguay
...it is the cleverly movement...but it is movement more so than bruks that the master uses.

For all that football is a a game of sudden..so after passing and passing and passing...a slick bruk does its job as the defenders are lulled into looking for the pass....ergo, the bruk becomes a 'SUDDEN' act/piece of action.

    E.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tF8qAast0E

It was a period of slow lazy build-ups then 'sudden' attacks. Today the 'slow build-ups' reflect the modern high paced game..i.e. today's 'slow build-ups' when compared to the 1970 period, is fast!!! Today's slow build-up is faster movement of ball and players. ...our current fast is really, really fast!
Even then it is of note that it is on the dribble or attempted bruk that a player most often loses the ball.

btw - How often did Pele attempt to bruk?

One of Maradona's greatest games - Arg v Eng 1986

The run and dribble from below the half-line and 'The Hand of God' goal.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCYDNXypgXU

How many of the bruks worked?
Was passing most often used...or brukin on high percentage touches?

Frequency with which ball was lost as %age of total attempts of bruks?

The game is simple - one of passing and movement & movement and passing - and it is a game of SUDDEN=making the passes swiftly keeps the opponent off-balance.

btw - How often did Maradona bruk?

      Shifting goal posts?!?

Look Pele, Maradona and many other great players in their games rarely...Yes, I said, RARELY...attempted to beat one-on-one during each game...
      And now it's:

How many of the bruks worked?
      Please!

Karl, choose any match prior to 1990 and see how many times they ATTEMPTED to beat players one-on-one. That was a feature of the game then. We all realised it has changed tremendously since then. The change started happening before 1990, of course, but lots of players, the goodvand the great, attempted bruks.

Many of the attempted bruks resulted in fouls , but they are attempts nonetheless.

The discussion is premised on "the how of playing good football" and the %age success of attempts at bruks v playing the pass. In a nutshell what is best for TEAM.

Your response is clever attempt to shift the goal posts while shouting to high heaven your argument/position on all the greats employed great number of bruks during each game is unfairly being suggested as a figment of your imagination.

The greats in their matches rarely employed the bruks when viewed as percentage of their 'touches'. The facts are stubborn - More attempts at passes than attempts at bruks were employed and by a significant large percent.
