  • Now this is shocker!!! Nasri excluded from the

    French team?

explained Nasri's inability to reproduce the excellent form he has shown in Manchester City's Premier League-winning season for the national team, and the midfielder's attitude when he is left out the side had led to him missing out on a second successive World Cup.

He said: "We're talking about a player of great quality. But Samir has had some performances in the French national team that aren't at the same level of those with City. He's an important player at City, which is not the case in the national team.

"He has said himself that he's not happy when he's a substitute. You can see that, and feel that within the squad. That's the three reasons why I didn't pick him."

    Squad:

Goalkeepers: Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur), Steve Mandanda (Marseille), Mickael Landreau (Bastia)

Defenders: Bacary Sagna (Arsenal), Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal), Mamadou Sakho (Liverpool), Raphael Varane (Real Madrid), Eliaquim Mangala (Porto), Mathieu Debuchy (Newcastle United), Patrice Evra (Manchester United), Lucas Digne (Paris Saint-Germain),

Midfielders: Rio Mavuba (Lille), Mathieu Valbuena (Marseille), Yohan Cabaye (Paris Saint-Germain), Blaise Matuidi (Paris Saint-Germain), Paul Pogba (Juventus), Franck Ribery (Bayern Munich), Clement Grenier (Lyon), Moussa Sissoko (Newcastle United)

Forwards: Olivier Giroud (Arsenal), Karim Benzema (Real Madrid), Antoine Griezmann (Real Sociedad), Loic Remy (Newcastle United)

    Reserves:

Stephane Ruffier (Saint-Etienne), Maxime Gonalons (Lyon), Remy Cabella (Montpellier), Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon), Loic Perrin (Saint-Etienne), Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton), Benoit Tremoulinas (Dynamo Kiev/Saint-Etienne)

So do you think sissoko was a better midfield pick?

Knew of the problems they have with him, but if they want to go far they need their best players. Nasri is one of their most creative players. if things go wrong Deshamp gonna face questions about this omission.

Face questions from who? The French public, Authority and his teammates don't want him on the team. EPL folks yes, but people who follow the team not surprised that a man who pick fights with him own teammates at every camp him go to has been dropped.

Just because two midfielders are versatile doesn't mean they are competing for the same position on their National team.

I can accept that - but by the same token, doesn't it also stand to reason that they could be? Or that the coach putting together a quorum of midfielders. If you know something I don't, then just tell me...no need for riddles. All I'm saying is that on balance, I can't see Sissoko being selected over Nasri.

I have no idea what you know. I don't see Sissoko competing for the same position that Nasri is. Nasri is a much different player.

What position was sissoko picked for? What position would Nasri have played (if picked)? Let's start there.
