Tilla you not paying attention, what is the matter with you? If we didn't have money for transfer then how we spent 45 mil on Ozil last summer?
The statement from the club at the end of last season is that the Stadium is almost finished paying for we have big contracts with Puma and Emirates ready to kick in. We are now ready to compete with any club in the world as long as UEFA keep an eye on the Chelsea's, PSG and Man City. So your perception of Wenger is wrong, he will spend money if the money is there no problem so we will turn up the heat on Jose this coming season.

Doesn't this contradict your position in previous posts?

I don't know about the contradiction etc., but Arsenal have always had the ability to get money, however, they made a very prudent decision to set the club up for the long haul by first paying off the stadium and reducing debt to easily manageable sums (which I believe they are at now). They are now capable of leveraging the free cashflow from a paid off stadium that can seat 60k people a game at the Prem's highest ticket prices and start competing for top talent. Very smart business men. As Dunny says, as long as FFP is not a joke, they will be in the cat bird seat.

Paul, why don't you let the Arsenal man defend himself? In one breath he is saying Arsenal don't have money to spend on big name players, then in another he is pointing to them spending 42 million on one player.

Anyway, all this from me commending Wenger as a good coach and that if he would only sign some players to take him over the hump, things would be different for Arsenal. We have seen where they sold players, why not pump back that money into worthwhile replacements so they can compete?

          Anyway...

            Two tings:

            1. Me nah defend nobady - I am a prosecutor; jess ax X.

            2. Wenger - all I am saying is that Wenger's bosses made a calculated decision to only spend enough to keep them in the top 4 until the stadium was close to being paid off. Had they fallen out of the top 4, they would have been forked, that's why Wenger never had to deal with no b.s. from the fans - his job was secure as long as he delivered top 4. Now, if delivering top 4 meant buying an Ozil, or bringing in replacement candidates like they did after Manu** gave them that buss ass a few years ago, they would find the money...but they weren't going to go spending no £100m per year to try keeping up with Chitty and Chelski. In other words - paying off the stadium was the priority - not silverware. Now that the stadium is paid, and FFP is in place (let's hope), then they can be more free wheeling, so my guess is that you'll see them pumping more money now into players.

Not at all boss, you were the person who made the statement that Wenger chose not to spend money on buying top quality players that is why they went so many years without winning trophies. I explained to you that if Wenger had the money he would've spent it. We had to sell at least one of our best players every year to stay afloat. The club came out last year and said they are now in a position to compete with anyone hence a player like Ozil was acquired. What so hard to understand about that? We are a club that operate on the revenue we generate and are not interested in this sugar daddy mentality of some clubs. I am proud of my club trophy or no trophy. Pound for pound we believe we have the best manager.
