  • Jose Mourinho's anger threatens to alienate his Chelsea

Mourinho criticised Nemanja Matic, who has been one of Chelsea’s best players since he returned from Benfica in January, for his failure to impose himself on the game.
He wasn’t sure, he told the midfielder, why he signed him. Harsh words for someone who has yet to enjoy a regular run in the side because of Chelsea’s Champions League commitments.
Incredible as this may seem for a player they signed for £21million, but now there is talk around the club that he is too slow.
Mohamed Salah, who has made fleeting appearances since his move from Basle in January, was dragged off at half-time and replaced by Eden Hazard.
Before he came off, he was told to ‘return as a footballer’ for pre-season training. Word is that Mourinho didn’t hold back at any point during that dressing room tirade.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Guess some players are upset at being ticked off???

How does leaking that dressing room 'blow-up' help the named players?

Seems to me it broadcasts that Mourinho considers each not good enough. Would another top club then spend good money for any? Would a club with 'great ambition' spend on any?

However gleaned, IMO, there is some truth to this report... and, if true, Mourinho is ultimately doing the club a dis-service. The autocratic method doesn't work with today's "entitled-thinking" youths... but who am I? I don't have a Crystal Ball or anything like that to guide my opinions...

It doesn't ,you think he just started being like that?..... Sweet mi. It works for him ,like it did in the past and future, its just that he put pressure on himself... He is the special one.

I do not know if it anything more than a, "Pull up your socks, lads. What you are doing is just not good enough. Continue on with that quality and we part ways." Just a telling it like it is. "If you do not think I am correct then we shall not work together".

I don't doubt you Karl, but nowadays, how you deliver the message is just as, if not more, important as the message itself. I'm not siding with, nor criticising Mourinho on that count but the youth of today are more sensitive, more empowered, more emboldened than when we were youths.

A crock of bulls PeterR! These guys are professionals and are being paid handsomely to give the coach what he wants. They are not doing the coach and the club a favor.

When you think about it, a guy like Hazard is being paid £175,000 per week to do his job. If the manager tells him to jump, the only question he should have is how high.

That is how I see it. I do not buy this thing about the youths of today.

Well Peter agrees with your above. It is the following that he has a disagreement.

I am thinking that you are on the right path. Even self-interest - financial well-being and pride in one's work - should have 'the workers' taking Jose's part admonishment/ part exhortation to heart....right?

Tilla, whether you agree or disagree is fine by me; but it is a FACT that this generation, (which would include the Hazards of the world) is the most catered to, most molly-coddled and even spoilt of any generation yet... the expectations of twenty-somethings today is vastly different than when we were that age (I just turned 57). As an aside, my wife hires young people in her business and one of her biggest complaints is the sense of entitlement they have without having even contributed a year's service to the firm; a strict contrast to what her experience was as a younger woman building her career.

It's not limited to football, it's a generational thing. Reality is now setting in for this generation I think, but regardless of what say a Hazard earns, coach mussn talk to him suh... dat is how de ting set wid many people. The coach, if he wants to keep the player has to find a way to make a connection with the player, otherwise, my way or the hiway... that's how I see this situation.

I can't fault Mourinho, the buck stops at him;he has to deal with a far more ruthless Roman.
The players should respond the way Eto'o,in fact, soliciting that very response is why he said it.
He is going to upgrade his team with some VERY good players because he sees the need...
