Karl, where you get your info from? I remeber when Jamaica played in the Caribbean cup in 1989, the same year that T&T almost made the world cup finals. CB was the coach, and he was the coach the following year too when in T&T the competition was suspended because of the coop attempt. In 1991, Jamaica won the Caribbean cup in Kingston, CB was the head coach at that time too, and remained at the helm right up to when Simoes took over.

We know being made head coach without having a squad does not make one a head coach.

We also know that being named head coach and being given a squad for 1 week here and 2 weeks there does not make for creating TOP OF THE WORLD team.

George Thompson, Allie McNabb, Jeffrey Maxwell, Delroy Scott, Winthorp "Jackie" Bell and CB have been there. The fact that CB has been there more often than the others does not mean that he was not, as were the others, head coach in name only.

All those previous nonsense samfie moves by the JFA (the precursor to the JFF) and the JFF...is just that, "nonsense samfie moves".

What is the point of naming, say a Jaycent and not giving him the wherewithal to have a squad in training for some appreciable time so that teaching/coaching can occur? ...and, what is th point of giving, say a Jaycent a name - i.e. head coach, and giving him no continuous time with players to build TEAM and or no matches...frequent matches against quality TEAM to challenge the players....give those players first hand experiences of playing at and or against top quality opponents...give the players an understanding/real life understanding of how the game is played at the TOP Level?

It would be similar to giving Jaycent, an IT worker, an introduction to what is taught in his field in a Jamaica high school, name Jaycent our nation's TOP IT person and send him out to compete with the CONCACAF's and the WORLD's TOP IT people. No introduction of Jaycent to cutting edge innovations in the field...no working in the field at increasingly higher and higher levels...we just call him a player...and, expect him to create 'wins' in the wider world at the VERY HIGHEST LEVELS! That would be a absurd...total nonsense...and, that would be unfair to Jaycent.

As I said, it is absurd to consider the periods that CB had the name "head coach" thrust on him excepting his Aug. 2002 through June 2004 period in charge as constituting periods that should be compared to Rene's 1994 - 2000 work-period. Only CB's Aug. 2002 - June 2004 period can be sensibly compared with Rene's 1994 - 2000 period. When we compare both those periods CB's results speak for themselves.

You don't have to try to put down Rene in anyway to big up Carl Brown.

Rene's achievement with our national team has not been achieved by any other coaches in our history. He not only got us to world cup, He put us on the football map and took our teams and youngster to places they have not achieved since then.

That's a fact!

Only you and a few others could come to that conculsion.

I searched this thread and I have not found where anyone put down Rene. I have looked on this site just to be sure my comments giving praise to Rene has not been taken down. They are all still there.

I must have missed in this thread where someone or some persons have put down Rene. ...and or have sought to minimise Rene's historic achievements.
