Simeone 'respects' Chelsea tactics

"Respect" and "admire" are certainly two adjectives among many that can be used to characterise Mourinho's tactics.
Personally, I don't admire it, but like Simeone, I have to respect it... and as you have said Tilla, opposing coaches will have to plan for it.
At the end of the day, football is about "attack" and "defense". Why not give defense its due?... even if it's "anti-football"... LOL , That's a joke BTW so please forumites don't get your knickers in a knot!Peter R

As cordin to Jose:
"Blues' boss warms up for second leg of Champions League semi against Atletico Madrid by insisting playing to your team's strengths is just common sense."
Nuff said. . ."Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance." ~ Kahlil Gibran

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers must learn from Mourinho to avoid becoming a specialist in failure

Action ImagesTactical naivety: Dave Kidd says Rodgers showed a lack of flexibility against Mourinho
Liverpool supporters will be hoping it was merely a petulant outburst, in the immediate aftermath of a devastating defeat.
Hoping that, on reflection, Brendan Rodgers regrets his claim that Chelsea’s performance at Anfield was ‘not difficult to coach’ – and praying that he doesn’t actually believe it.

Tilla me don't have to read that to know that. I called it ahead of the game,I have always believed that a tough defense always trumps a great attack and especially when the superior attacking team has an average defense as pool has. Superior defensive teams with counter attack style is the fastest way to improve any team and to compete at any level when discipline level is high.
People keep talking about pretty ball and I still cannot understand why there is such respect for ribbons and lace ball, the game is all about strength, speed and endurance nothing more nothing less. If pool wins the title then great, if not they know exactly what must be improved as the amount of goals that they have let in would probably be a record for the top team in the Epl.

Good article boss! I said it here already that Rodgers' downfall in the game on Sunday was that he did not have a plan b to counter Mourinho's tactics. As Mou said, it is stupid to know that a team used speed and like to attack the open spaces and you allow them to do that against you. If you want to play pretty ball and have your cabinet bare for a decade, then play like Ass-sinal! (Sorry Karl!)"Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. Brendan Rodgers is brilliant... but the Liverpool boss will know he was wrong to attack Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho

Brendan Rodgers has come a long way very quickly and, happily for the health of English football and its national team, he has dragged Liverpool with him.
This summer in Brazil, England will be much better off for the development shown recently by Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling, Jordan Henderson and, odd as it may sound, Steven Gerrard.
Rodgers preaches football from a purist’s soul and his players benefit. It fits the Anfield model, it works for Liverpool and, coincidentally, it may help England. What the Liverpool manager didn’t seem to realise until this weekend, however, is that his way does not work for everybody.

I can understand your views, seeing that there are really few technical players out there today. I can have my fill of watching Pele, Garrincha et al seeing that technically gifted players are a rarity these days.
You don't know what you are saying but keep talking because that's what the media gave to you.

In todays football, at the top, it is a given that all the players are blessed with abundance skills...so ->
The difference between a good footballer and a great footballer lies in 'the thinking'.
Aside: Let's see what the 'big coaches' Wenger, Martinez and "The Youth Coach" does next year when they meet "Mourinho's way".Last edited by Karl; April 30, 2014, 08:45 AM."Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Not saying I am no ball expert but I know strong defense can blunt the greatest attack. Defense is always easier than attack.
To attack means your confidence and belief level is high so you venture forth from your safety zone, which also means you yourself very vulnerable to the counter attack and your ability to defend and collapse space is lessened. To defend and defend well means concentrating the team in a smaller space and with high discipline you can keep out or shutdown a superior force in football, basketball, hockey, any kind of conflict as numerous wars and battles have shown us, especially in medievial warfare as you can remember all the examples of fortresses holding out in siege warfare for long periods of time. The game is about one thing-the end result, so by all means legally necessary then Chelsea had every right to play as they did, wait for the attacking side to blink and make the mistake and then pounce. This is the style I have abdicated for jamaica forever, we have the players to make this style work and our best results came with some variation on this style.
