      One for the experts.
Not frenetic...but, excellent technical and tactical skills.
Each has opened the defense of the opposition and had scoring chances.

It appears to me that Chelsea is playing with fire...playing the defense a little high and square at times. ManU may spring such a defensive barrier...beat the offside and make Chelsea pay.

...on the other side I think Shaun Wright-Philips is not playing with enough effort...he is just a tad slow in making his passes and getting off his shot. If he was just a little quicker...if was just his usual self, I think he would have caused more trouble in and around the penalty area for ManU.

Good set of TOP OF THE WORLD players...putting on a treat of good tactical and technical show.

Expect the game to pick up in pace the 2nd half.

        Karl - GARBAGE!!

Cagey, boring game by both teams. compare this to the high quality UEFA Cup final between Sevilla and Espanyol - there is none!

Karl, where is the quality and technique in stringing passes between players not under pressure?

Please! In a minute, I think I'll switch to NASCAR on ESPN.

Hewitt and Nadal tied at 4-4 in the 3rd set! Now, that's some good stuff!

Magnificently crafted goal! Great series of movement into space and excellent technical touches. ...then, superbly taken!

I was just logging on to congratulate Chelski, but was going to say the same thing. No one can accuse the MIGHT REDS (not the fool fool ones) of playing boring football after this. Congratuations to the better side.

                I agree!

So unlike the rest of the game. As the commentator said, "Certainly not a classic, in terms of the football itself."

FA Cup final - Chelsea 1-0 Man Utd

Live FA Cup final: Chelsea v Man Utd

                  Wembley, Saturday 19 May 2007

Rooney (left) caused the Chelsea backline some problems

A Didier Drogba goal in extra-time was enough to win Chelsea the first FA Cup final at the new Wembley Stadium.

The Chelsea forward produced a rare moment of brilliance in a game that failed to live up to the hype and complete a cup double for the Blues.
He played a one-two with Frank Lampard before stabbing past Edwin van der Sar.
Ryan Giggs had United's best two chances but he volleyed over in normal time and then wasted a glorious opportunity in the extra period.

The 90,000 fans inside the stadium were treated to a fantastic pre-match build-up featuring some famous faces from Wembley's glorious past.
But aside from Drogba's late winner, the two best sides in the country produced a game that is unlikely to live long in the memory.
A cagey opening 20 minutes set the pace for a match that at times seemed more like the Community Shield than the first FA Cup final at an immaculate new Wembley.
The first effort on target did not arrive until after the half hour with Paulo Ferreira venturing forward and slipping a pass in for Frank Lampard, who forced Edwin van der Sar to make a smart low save.
That was about the extent of the first 45 minutes as both teams looked heavy-legged after a season in which they have each played over 60 games.
The pitch, which looked in fabulous condition at the start, began to cut up which did not aid the footballing spectacle or the weary players.
Joe Cole looked one of the few capable of livening things up before he was surprisingly replaced at half-time by Arjen Robben.
The pace picked up slightly after the break, with United looking the more likely to get Wembley's first Cup final goal.
Wayne Rooney emerged from his first-half shell to bring a first save out of Petr Cech and tested Chelsea's backline with a couple of bursting runs.
                  WEMBLEY FIRSTS

31 mins: Shot on target (Lampard)
                  46: Substitution (Robben for Cole)
                  59: Booking (Scholes)
                  116: Goal (Drogba)

Paul Scholes picked out Giggs to volley just over the top as Sir Alex Ferguson's men showed the odd glimpse of the stylish side that dominated the Premiership.

At the other end Drogba was largely contained by Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, with the Premiership's top scorer limited to a curling free-kick that clipped the outside of the post during the 90 minutes.
Vidic could have settled the tie with the last touch of normal time but his glancing header from Giggs' inswinging free-kick was just too high.
Both sides had glorious chances to break the deadlock at the end of the first period of extra-time.
Giggs somehow managed to pick out Cech with the goal at his mercy as he slid onto a Rooney cross and then Drogba headed into the side-netting from an equally-promising position.
Salomon Kalou was agonisingly close to scoring before Drogba and Lampard exchanged passes and the Golden Boot winner capped off a fabulous season with the most important goal of his season and prevented a third successive FA Cup final going to penalties.

Chelsea: Cech, Ferreira, Essien, Terry, Bridge, Mikel, Makelele, Lampard, Wright-Phillips, Drogba, Joe Cole. Subs: Cudicini, Ashley Cole, Robben, Kalou, Diarra.
Man Utd: Van der Sar, Brown, Ferdinand, Vidic, Heinze, Fletcher, Scholes, Carrick, Ronaldo, Rooney, Giggs. Subs: Kuszczak, Evra, Smith, Solskjaer, O'Shea.
                  Referee: S Bennett (Kent).

Wow! God to see that, Karl. Most of the time, even when faced with irrefutable facts, most of us here would never change our tune.

Respect for that! Especially seeing that the game actually picked up!
